Popular Canadian rapper withdraws from 2022 Grammy Awards considerations.
Aubrey Graham, popularly known as Drake, has withdrawn from consideration for a 2022 Grammy Award nomination. This year’s Grammys saw Drake receive two nominations: Best Rap Performance for ‘Way 2 Sexy’ and Best Rap Album for ‘Certified Lover Boy.’
According to multiple outlets, Drake’s management requested the withdrawal, which the Recording Academy granted. As a result, each of the impacted categories will now have only four nominees.
So far, the four-time Grammy Award winner has been silent about the decision. For a while, Drake has been critical of the Grammys.

Last year, as part of the controversy surrounding award nominations and the usage of “nominating committees” despite having some of the year’s most critically praised and popular music, Drake’s compatriot, The Weeknd, was rejected for any nominations by the Recording Academy.

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and those that come after,” Drake wrote on his Instagram page last year, expressing his dissatisfaction with the award organizers.
