Police arrests Heritage Middle School staff Kristen Williams who met student at 1:00 a.m to smoke weed.
Kristen Williams, 41, a Heritage Middle School staff was arrested after she met with a student at 1:00 a.m. to smoke marijuana. Her parents were alerted to the fact that she had met with a 14-year-old kid and had shared marijuana with him in the early hours of the morning before they discovered his disappearance from Heritage Middle School in Deltona.
Child abuse without substantial injury and contributing to the delinquency of a minor were the charges against Williams, an office assistant at Heritage Middle School who interacts with sixth-graders in her role.
The 14-year-old’s parents called the sheriff’s department at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday to report what had transpired. Upon discovering the youngster had vanished at 1:30 in the morning, his stepfather set out to find him while his mother checked the call record on her house phone and noticed multiple incoming calls from a certain number.
Apparently under the influence of marijuana, her son returned home not long after she dialed that number. According to the boy’s account, he met Williams near his home at about 1:30 a.m. and smoked in her van. Seeing his mother’s phone ringing, he had Williams bring him back to his home.
Neither during this occurrence nor in any previous interactions were any complaints of sexual abuse made against anyone.
According to Williams, the 14-year-old has been in her car and at her home in the past to spend time with her kids and that she acts as a mentor to many 6th grade students at Heritage.
Williams was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail and released later that morning after posting $3,000 bail.
